My Husband Stupidly Turned On An Element On That Had

My husband stupidly turned on an element on that had a thick plastic pizza cutter casing. A good chunk caught fire and melted. He put the fire out with a towel and he was near it for a while. I am worried that his and my lungs are affected and we will die sooner. How can we assess the health effect.
