My Husband Was In ER Wednesday Night With A Hernia

My husband was in ER Wednesday night with a hernia that had popped out but went back in so he was sent home. This morning it popped out again and was out 3.5 hrs and then went back in. It popped out again about 45 minutes ago and so far has not gone back in. He has only been up walking around at 2 hrs today so far. He cannot push the hernia back in but it has gone back in itself. I don't want to make a second ER trip (45 mi away) only to have him sent home again, but I am not sure what criteria I should use. His Dr appointment is not until two weeks so I am going to call Monday to see if I can get him sooner. Until then, what measure should I use before going back to the ER again?
