My Husband Was Seen This Week For A Droppingblood Test.

My husband was seen this week for a droppingblood test. The doctor said the test showed he had active bleeding going on. He is scheduled to see a gastroenterologist this Thursday but today he started having vrey dark (black) bowel movement. Is this an emergency or can it wait until his appt. on Thurs.? Thank You
