My Husband Was Switched From Pradaxa To Xeralto About 4

My husband was switched from pradaxa to xeralto about 4 weeks ago. He has since developed an upper respiratory issue, first diagnosed as influenza, the pneumonia, and now he is being testing for whooping cough. During the course of his illness he has coughed so violently, that he has a hematoma on his side to his back, the size of a watermelon, deep purple to almost black. Do we need to consider that the blood thinner has caused this reaction?
