My Menstrual Periods Are Becoming More Frequent And Last Longer.

My menstrual periods are becoming more frequent and last longer. They used to be every 28 days for three or four days and are now every 21 days for seven days. They are also quite painful and heavy. I go through about fifty super plus tampons in seven days. Is this a sign of menopause?
