My Middle/inner Ear Feels Kind Of Numb For 2 Years

My middle/inner ear feels kind of numb for 2 years now. The doctor and entertainment always says it's slightly red, but not an infection it hurts,and is discomforting. The back/base of my neck/head hurts and always has what feels like a huge knot there. What might it be?
