Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom has had breast cancer for 5 years but now it spread to her liver and she is bed locked. She has intense jaundice and she is taking morphine for the pain. Her liver is failing so there is a build up of fluid in her stomach called ascites. She has hyperkalemia and she is taking medication for it. She has major nausea side effects and constipation from the morphine sulphate and the medication for the hyperkalemia. She drains her stomach every few days but now its starting to leak from the incision. Do you think she should put a catheter? Or is that too much of a risk for infection. And is there medication that you recommend that would help the nausea and constipation? The final question I have is how long does she have?
