My Mom, Who Is 43 Years Old, Has Been Struggling

My mom, who is 43 years old, has been struggling with chronic pain, fatigue, and shortness of breath for several months. She has had several CBC done and her WBC has increased each time- with the wbc currently at 14.7. Last month it was 11.7. Thyroid has been checked and is slightly elevated but not much. My concern is that she smokes over a pack a day and takes several different medications, and has most of her life. She has also had full size pills in her stools everyday. Any ideas of what this could be?
