My Mother Has A Lot Of Scar Tissue In Her

My mother has a lot of scar tissue in her eye where as a child she was stabbed in the eye with scissors. She was 5 then and 91 now. The tissue is growing a causing a lot of discomfort, watering constantly and light sensitivity. It is always red and hurts continually. She is a WW2 vet and goes to the VA, needless to say, not exactly on top of the latest tech. They gave her an ointment ( over the counter) eye moisture to use around everytime her eye hurts. Pretty useless. The doc mentioned a contact lens to keep her lid from rubbing the scar tissue. But VA moves at a snails pace. Is there anything she could do or get or go to for help? She is suffering greatly. She does not deserve this. Also -'forgot-she has no sight in that eye. health nurse once a month.ew
