My Mother-in-law Is 95. She Has A Stent, Had A

My mother-in-law is 95. She has a stent, had a stroke three months ago, has afib, and rretains fluid in her legs and feet. She takes latix.
Her doctor prescribed Metoprolol tartrate and sotalol to be taken together about a year ago.
The pharmacist said these medicines treat the same thing, so I should check with the doctor before giving her both. She was on Multaq (after her stent was put in her heart artery) and the doctor replaced it with sotalol when she had insurance problems with Multaq being a brand name drug.
