My Mother Is 80yrs Old And Detecting Irregular Enhancing Circumferential

My mother is 80yrs old and detecting irregular enhancing circumferential wall thickening of recto-sigmoid junction and proximal rectum with mild luminal narrowing and dilated loaded colon proximal to it_ suggests possible mitotic pathology. There are multiple hepatic metastatic lesions. ADV. Colonoscopy and hpe correlation. My question is ,what does it means and is the adviced test safe and painful at this age?
