My Mother Is 98 Years Old. She Has Been Complaining

My mother is 98 years old. She has been complaining about numbness in her fingers for about a year. Her doctor suspected carpal tunnel and told us to get braces for her hands at night. This hasn't worked because she doesn't keep them on due to frequent trips to the back room. I recently noticed that her hands have turned dark up to her wrists. What should I do?
