My Mother Is In The Hospital And Keeps Getting Weaker

My mother is in the hospital and keeps getting weaker each day. Two weeks ago she was fine. They say she has no signs of stroke but are doing blood work because they think she might have something in her blood that is eating the muscle away. What would be causing this?
