My Mother Was Put In The Hospital For A Blockage

My mother was put in the hospital for a blockage in her intestine. They took away all her food and water for the next 3 days. They said something about trying to dry something out if it doesn't work will have to do a 30 minute surgery to patch it. She can't control her bowels they inserted a tube in her nose yellow stuff coming out. I am not sure where the actual whole is. They performed a cat scan with dye and found the blockage. I don't understand if she is blocked up she still has diarrhea they have changed her 15 times since she has been there. The dr said she wouldn't be able to survive a operation that lasted 5 hrs to repair it. She is 78 years old. Has cataracts in both eyes cannot see hardly anything. I don't think they even want to do surgery on them either. She is very weak has fallen twice in a week loosing her balance! She is in Illinois I am in Delaware my sister takes care of her. Not getting any water for 3 days will she become dehydrated?
