My name is Rebecca.
Recently I visited a neurogurgeon to discuss surgery for my lower back. I have several problems with two vertebrae and very likely needed fusion surgery.

However, the neurosurgeon did the standard test and was shocked by my hyperreflexia. He also did a test in which he pressed down on my middle finger and found the my forefinger and thumb came together in a circle. Like the reflex, this peculiar feature was unusual. He and his PA referred to "Howard's". He wanted me to have an MRI of my brain and cervical vertebrae, which I have done.

I can't find any information online about Howard's. Please tell me what this condition means and also how one would go about finding it on the internet.
