My Nephew Is On Plavix After Cardiac Stent Placement. He

My nephew is on Plavix after cardiac stent placement. He needs some dental work done (tooth pulled) and the nurse in the cardiologist's office said he couldn't have the dental work until he has been on Plavix for one year. I have never heard this. please clarify.
