My Newborn Grandson Is At The ER Right Now With

My newborn grandson is at the ER right now with low body temperature. He was premature and the smaller one of twins. Doctors in the ER said it could be his response to an infection. Blood work will be done and maybe a spinal tap after that. Is this a normal response?
