My Partner Went To His Primary Care Physician About A

My partner went to his primary care physician about a month ago with a case of the flu, main complaints fever, chills, muscle aches and a violent cough that did not respond to OTC medication. Typically, the dr said nothing we can do, and prescribed a stronger cough medicine. The cough has never resolved although it is less violent. He seemed to be better and only missed the part of 2 days of work.

A month later and he came home from work early yesterday with 101 fever, chills and the still present cough. He additionally complains of generalized muscle weakness. Fever fluctuates from 99 to 101. He is taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen for fever.

Primary carde physician cannot see him until next Friday (unbelievable) Should I take him to an urgent care center?
