My Roommate (ex) Got Angry , Came At Me And

My roommate (ex) got angry , came at me and choked me last night. There are no marks, but the mid of my throat hurts and it is hard to swallow. I am also getting over a fold sickness....but it hurts to touch my throat from the outside. Can my Dr find out any proof of damage ? I literally thought that he was going to take my life. He's going but I would like to have some proof for legal / safety reasons.
