My Sister Began Taking Klonopin About 6 Weeks Ago After

My sister began taking klonopin about 6 weeks ago after taking xanax for 12 years. While detoxing the xanax and starting klonopin, she has a rash and itching that has spread all over. The rash began approximately 2 weeks after beginning the klonopin. Would this new medication cause this reaction? She cannot just stop cold turkey. What should she do?
