My Son Acquired Staph Infection From An IV His Arm

My son acquired staph infection from an IV his arm required 3 different surgeries to clean out infection and the vein had to be removed he has had 5 blood clots in this arm and a shunt has been put in his chest to administer more antibiotics and now he has been told there is more infection in this arm and they have to go back in or he may lose his arm my question is there a possibility this may be mrsa?
