My Son Came Down Hard On His Right Leg And

My son came down hard on his right leg and now his knee hurts to the touch and is swollen. He complains about both his knees a lot. We've had and xray of one knee and they found nothing. Do you think it could be growing pains or is it he keeps reinjuring it?
