My Son Had 5 Sutures 9 Days Ago. The Sutures

My son had 5 sutures 9 days ago. The sutures were removed by his family doctor. The cut is just over an inch in length over his knuckle on his index finger. Upon the removal of the stitches it wasn't bleeding but the cut is still wide open. I'm concerned about scar tissue decreasing his mobility and use of the finger. The doctor stated that the stiches were much too loose. What are my options now?
