My Son Had A Bad Sun Burn. He Now Has

My son had a bad sun burn. He now has purple veins coming out from one of the worse areas.I have never seen this. Do I worry? Is he OK to wait til the am to see his Dr? The entire area is painful to the touch. All the way out past the burn to the edge of the visable veins
