My Son Had A Cholesteatoma In His Left Ear And

My son had a cholesteatoma in his left ear and had two operations to remove the growth. He is now deaf in his ear and requires a hearing aid. Over past couple of months he's had infections but have cleared. 4 days ago a big white blob came out his ear it felt like a wet bit of tissue but didn't smell and he wasn't in any pain. 20 minutes ago he came through screaming that his ear was bleeding and it was bleeding very heavily dark dark red blood it bled for 5 minutes and then stopped, again he's not in any pain I think he was in shock as was I. Is this anything to be worried about?
