Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son had his 1st seizure at 18 months. Like clock work he had them every 6 weeks until he was 4yrs old, when he was diagnosed with epilepsy. From 4-19yrs old he was on phenobarbital & his seizures were controlled. By age 20yrs, the Dr.said he had outgrown his condition. He went 20yrs seizure free. Now he is 45 yrs old & his seizures have returned with a vengeance. The last 3 have been in his sleep (this never happened before) during the early hours of the morning. He takes his meds (kepra) as prescribed , practices excellent daily nutrition and exercise, was an athlete in his younger years. I'm concerned because his seizures (grand mal) are becoming more frequent & attacking him in his sleep. What can we do to better monitor &/or control his seizures.? Also, Would you recommend the use of oxygen . He currently uses a CPAP for his sleep apnea. Thank you.
