My Son Had His Shoulder Dislocated In Football Practice Two

My son had his shoulder dislocated in football practice two weeks ago. He just got an MRI today and when they went to inject the dye , they had to drain blood from it first. Is this normal? What could be the cause? He previously had bursitis and a small tear in baseball a few months back. Thanks
