My Son Has A Multiforme GBM And We Have Been

My son has a multiforme GBM and we have been dropping his dexamethasone dosage 2mg a week for 6 weeks. We were at 16mg and we have came down to 4mg he has been doing really well until today he woke up with some incognance and a headache, and also a little disoriented. The neurologist thinks his shunt may be failing and wants us to go back to 16mg tonight. Is that a good idea? Also he is 60% back to normal tonight and has taken no Dexamethasone yet.
