My Son Has Folliculitis On His Scalp, He Is Seeing

My son has folliculitis on his scalp, he is seeing a derm doctor currently, but the creams, and pills don't seem to help him. They get pus red itchy and painful. I am not sure what the dr. is not doing. It really bothers him physically
