My Son Has Had A Few Symptoms Of A Cold

My son has had a few symptoms of a cold lately
Runny or stuffy nose ect. Also had a nose bleed yesterday and today. I thought it was his allergies so I have him some benadryl before bed. He had children's clartin early in the am that day. He was tossing and turning for a while while trying to sleep and woke up coughing a very dry raspy cough. He said his chest hurt and he was definitely having a hard time breathing. Right away I gave him a breathing treatment at home. He is sleeping now but his breathing seems to be labored a bit. Can I wait to take him to the doctors in a few hrs or should I take him to er?
