My Son Hurt His Wrist Trying To Catch Himself From

My son hurt his wrist trying to catch himself from falling. His hand n fingers r swollen n his wrist hurts. He can move it all, it just hurts n its red. He noticed a couple of veins were purple but now a faint red. Should we b concerned? Does he need to go to emergency?
