My Son Is 9 Years Old And 7 Days Ago

My son is 9 years old and 7 days ago presented with up with swollen glands, sore throat, achy body but no fever; I took him to the doctor and she swabbed for strep (sent it to the lab b/c sometimes my son getst strep and no one can tell); it came back negative; but it's been a week and he is starting to feel worse; his neck hurts a great deal when we touch around the gland area; he looks pale and his throat seems to be worse (but still no fever to speak of, though I think his temp is a little elevated)
