My Son Is A College Freshman, And Played A Hockey

My son is a college freshman, and played a hockey game today. He apparently collided with another player (taller player) whose elbow pushed my sons facemask into his forehead. He has a gash on his forehead that may need stitches. Said he doesn't have a headache, but is on the bus heading this direction and will get here at 2:00am. (7 hour drive). Should I pick him up at school and take him to the emergency room when he gets into Pittsburgh? He needs to take the concussion test tomorrow, but I'm nervous about him sleeping if I haven't had him checked first.
