My Son Was Born With An Imperforate Anus 30 Years

My son was born with an imperforate anus 30 years ago. He was the only one of my four children to have this problem and I am not aware of any other family members in my family or my husband's family to have this defect. He had surgery as a newborn and the doctor said that his was basically a cosmetic issue - basically no other problems other than opening the hole. Now this son is expecting his first child. Should they be concerned about this ?
