My Son Was Bruned By Freon On His Face Yesterday

My son was bruned by freon on his face yesterday when are Ac window unit he was working on exploded. He put RX burn cream on it but upon further research it looks like that was incorrect. how should he treat the area that is now red, swollen, & starting to scab over?
