My Son Was Just Diagnosed With Hand Foot And Mouth

My son was just diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease. My mother in law just called and said she has a double ear infection and pink eye in both eyes. She claims that her doctor said that she caught it from my son since he has hand foot and mouth disease. Is it possible that she caught it from him even though he does not have a respiratory infection or pink eye?
