My Sore Throat Is Not Getting Better After 5 Days.

My sore throat is not getting better after 5 days. I have been tested for strep - turned out negative. I have no fever. Dr. took a blood sample and tested it and told me there was no bacterial infection therefore the sore throat is caused by a virus. I have been gargling with salt water, sipping chicken soup and drinking water. Would antibiotics help......such as a z-pack?
