My Toddler Recently Had A Barking Cough. It's Starting To

My toddler recently had a barking cough. It's starting to go away and turned into a congestion sounding cough. Then he wakes in the morning with blood tinged drool on the bed. It happened after nap as well. Is this related to his congestion? Could it be serious? He has had no fever, but did have problems breathing and wheezing a bit in the beginning of the virus.
