My Uncle Had A TAE And Was Awake During The

My uncle had a TAE and was awake during the procedure but it had to be aborted half way through because he was in agony in his stomach and back,so he is to have the procedure finished in a few weeks. This was 9 days ago (he was discharged the day after the TAE) but in my opinion he shouldnt have been sent home in the pain and unwellness he was in. After having blood tests yesterday he was urgently called today to his local hospital to stay in as the bloods showed an irregularity and he is now on a antibiotic drip and receiving various tests. Why was he in so much pain DURING the TAE,surely he shouldnt have felt anything at the time it was being carried out? Thankyou,worried niece
