My Urologist Wishes Me To Have A Cystoscopy To Examine

My urologist wishes me to have a cystoscopy to examine my bladder for reasons for frequency of urination. He says I do not need an anesthetic, I had a cystoscopy in the past and found it extremely painful. Is it proper to insist on either regional or general anesthetic?
