My Uterus Is 11x6cm With A Number Of Fibroids. Recommendation

My uterus is 11x6cm with a number of fibroids. Recommendation is total abdominal hysterectomy. I'm 49 don't need any more children but am dreading the op because of the 6 week recovery period. Can I delay surgery whilst managing and reducing these fibroids if so how,?
