My Wife 37 Weeks Pregnant. She Was Gone For Normal

My wife 37 weeks pregnant. She was gone for normal scan and doctor told that blood flow from mother to baby is low and lungs have some problem. Then they put two betnosol Injection 24 hrs cap. After two days she got milk bleed too much due that they force to operate and delivered the baby. My question is. Why they put that injection. Is this reason she has to give birth by operation?
