My Wife Began Having Discomfort Around Her C-section Scar About

My wife began having discomfort around her c-section scar about a year ago, she is 55 and has 3children.but recently she has began having a disproportionate swelling around her abdomen, today she said she felt as if it shifted somewhat, dropping from her bra-line more toward the abdomen...what could this be, she has not sought medical help yet.
