My Wife Broke A Blood Vessel In Her Wrist Underside

My wife broke a blood vessel in her wrist underside pruning tree limbs. It is swollen with blood x colors of bruising. What treatment can we do. Is ice x keep the wrist above the heart good. She has some pain but not terribly. The bruising is about 2x2inches.
