My Wife Has Been Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes And

My wife has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and recently purchased a self test machine with a lancet to prick her finger. Her reading was 101. What does this indicate? Should it be taken first thing in the morning before eating, after eating, what time of day? Thanks
