My Wife Has Complained Of Her Shoulder Joint In Pain

My wife has complained of her shoulder joint in pain constantly. It’s her left shoulder and feels when she’s asleep on her side with her arm extended, this is what’s causing soreness. I’ve put heat pads on the joint but its temporary. Any thoughts?
