My Wife Has Frequent And Urgent Need To Move Her

My wife has frequent and urgent need to move her bowels. When she tries, only a small amount of diarrhea occurs. Today she start to vomit. She vomited 10 times today. This has been going on now for the past several months. Her stool hasn't been solid for this same period of time. Should I give her a stool softener until I can get her to a doctor?
