My Wife Has What Looks Like Bug Bites On Her

My wife has what looks like bug bites on her lower legs. They count over 50 intensely itchy red bites. I have none. I sleep in the same bed and was outside with her last weekend where there were no see-ums. It has not gone away but not spreading with benadryl and the use of calamine lotion. She has itched 2 spots to bleeding. Doesn't look like shingles. She's 57 and overweight but no symptoms of any diabetes.
