My Wife Is 75 Years Old, Has Chronic Pancreatitious,dementia, And

My wife is 75 years old, has chronic pancreatitious,dementia, and other health conditions & takes talking 50 mg. pills for pain. She takes 2 initially. The directions say 1 tablet every 8 hrs. (Talking) she's been taking them for over 10yrs.she forgets she's taken them when the pain is really bad. Is there a danger in giving her more before the 8hrs?
