My Wife Just Recently Followed Uo With A Root Canal

My wife just recently followed uo with a root canal after experincing pain below her left ear. She thought it could be an infection and took meds for it. the pain has continued and she now wants to be seen. What kind of doctor would specialize and could the pain be from the untreated tooth. The dentist stated it looked ok. Thank you
